Schoten is a residential suburb, 9 km north of Antwerp, a city with a long cultural tradition and great economical importance with one of the largest seaports in the world. It has direct access to the European railway and highway systems and is only 50 km away from the international airport of Brussels. Lunch will be served in the cellar of the Castle on both Sat and Sun (there is a tavern). We have added the cost for lunch of 12 euro per day to the cost of the class, to make it simpler for everyone to eat together if you DO NOT want to participate in lunch, please notify us when you register. For people who would like accommodation near-by, we recommend Motel Dennenhof (http://valk.com/properties/displayProperty.asp?propertyCode=DEN ) This hotel is in a quiet and beautiful location, about 4 km from the castle. highway at exit no. 5 Merksem. This street is called "Horstsebaan" a curvy road. After ± 1 km, there is a speed bump in the road (near a street on the left). Go straight ahead and turn right after 50m. Keep on going straight ahead ( you will pass 2 traffic lights) until you cannot go any further. On the right you will see the castle of Schoten.
Route coming from Brussels (E 19) or Ghent (E 17) Follow the signs towards BREDA on the south part of the Ring around Antwerp (direction 2). Leave the highway at exit 5 SCHOTEN-MERKSEM. Down the exit, turn right. After 500 meters at the next traffic lights turn left. This street is called "Horstsebaan" a curvy road.
